Down in the dirt she dug to plant the bulbs. Bulbs of tulips, irises, and orchids, long in their stems and appendages. Her arms are long too, lengthy like stocks of corn in wide fields. She has nothing better to do except plant those flowers, every day checking on her precious garden like nothing else exists. Not even her husband. On Sundays she goes and plays bingo. She hasn't won yet, but last weekend she almost did, had two diagonals and one vertical. Some old lady by the name of Henrietta Jenkens who lives in the nearby hospice nabbled the winnings away. Flower Girl (Aerith) There was a time where days were fair although My mind may not recall which ones were clear. I remember the display; a show in the sky that shone like a mirror. In a church I lay, taking a nap The roof was gone, just dust of old wood plank. A voice I heard, my eyes at once so rapt A girl, a woman, with verdant eyes that sank Reality. The sky came through the roof. A love of flowers, compassion that she knew. For sale at corners, cheaper than a tooth. Bought out of pity, a fact so sad yet true. It was she, who made such days so bright, But it's a pity since death has snuffed her light.

A Translation

A Translation Inspired by Neruda/ Oda para planchar The poem is blank. But soon words flow like water, with emotion, with animation. The feelings extending through my feet into the Earth, To plant parts of the soul like flowers near the sea. Moving hands with sacredness, blessing many things: Touching the hands of the world Spreading like a fire in a straight line, unwavering. Combating the wind that feeds it; A birth of light. The essence returns to its origin.
